All opinions are mine alone. #NeverStopSummering #NSS2021 #MMS #SkittlesIf we learned how to do anything during our extended time at home last year, it’s how to create a good time with the space that we have at home. So, as the weather started to warm up, it was a no brainer to head out in our backyard for a backyard camping adventure to celebrate summer on the horizon.
With a tent in tow and a snack bar loaded with Peanut M&M’S® Red White & Blue Mix and SKITTLES® America Mix candies; our summer adventure was on. Our backyard has become our everyday oasis, a space where we can gather as a family and/or have friends over and this summer and we are relieved to have the ability to celebrate summer and host as we’ve done in the past! I know that I can’t be the only one who missed having family events.
Backyard Camping Adventure for Families
With the start of summer, more and more families are searching for ways to venture back into travel experiences again. Camping in your own backyard is a fun way to feel like you’re enjoying a travel experience from the comfort of your home. Oddly enough, as adventurous as I think that we are as a family, we haven’t quite been ready to pitch a tent in the wilderness as of yet. So, this was the perfect way for us to get some practice and have a great time together as a family.
For our first backyard adventure, we bought a pack of our favorite candies to add to our snack bar. The Peanut M&M’S® Red White & Blue Mix and SKITTLES® America Mix candies come in fun new packaging and colors that celebrate America. They make the perfect addition to any snack bar or food station that you’re hosting during the summer months and I don’t know about you but this summer, we plan to have a ton of fun events. You can buy packs of M&M’S® candies and other participating brands to compliment your backyard BBQs, pool parties or movie nights like us. Through the summer, we’re getting creative and planning to do all the above.
Quick Tips for Creating a Backyard Camping Adventure
If you’re interested in planning a backyard camping trip. Here are 3 quick trips for creating a successful backyard camping adventure.
- Bring Your Favorites Outside
One of the best ways to survive backyard camping is to make it as comfortable as possible. We brought blankets, snacks and our lantern outside as the sun was beginning to set. We stayed out as long as possible before the wind took over but it was great to have everything we needed to have a great time. One of the benefits of camping at home is that everything is accessible and that it’s okay if you forget to bring something out or change your mind.
- Make the Set Up or Break Down a Family Activity
None of us had been camping before and quite honestly, it was our first time pitching a tent as well. My husband was in charge of set up while I was in charge of the snacks. Then, we worked together to take it down when it was all over. The fun thing about camping is that the set up is actually a part of the journey. Some of your best memories will be trying new tasks like this together.
- Camping snacks matter so make them GOOD
If we’re going to be outside, the snacks should at least be enjoyable. We took full advantage of our outdoor adventure as an excuse to enjoy some of our favorite candies after lunch. Any camper knows that the snacks totally make or break the trip. So, grab some of your favorite things and make sure you have then on hand for your camping trip.As summer progresses, we are looking forward to many more outdoor adventures as a family.
